Are you replacing diesel and gasoline Internal combustion engines?

We use our patented Cryo Turbo Range Extender, powered by Liquid Air “fuel,” to serve as the prime mover as part of a serial hybrid design with a generator serving as the secondary form of energy. Our solutions provide a Zero Emission replacement for gasoline/diesel powered vehicles and other equipment. Liquid Air or Nitrogen (since our atmospheric air is approximately 78% Nitrogen) is already being produced in large quantities every single day.

This Non-Combustible Non-Toxic Zero Emissions Liquid Air “fuel” is unlimited (it’s just air!!) and allows for 5 minute quick refueling of transportation vehicles equipped with our Cryo Turbo Range Extender. We use the Liquid Air to power our Range Extender that generates electricity for keeping EV power packs charged (for longer driving range).

Our patented Cryo Turbo air expansion design is optimized to turn the Liquid Air back into electricity or other forms of work, thus allowing the air we breath to serve as a type of "fuel." You can think of our Cryo Turbo design like a large wind turbine that spins at a high speed, yet small enough to fit in the palm of your hands. Our proprietary design transforms the Liquid Air into a high velocity air flow that turns the micro turbine blades that directly drives a high speed generator, which keeps an EV power pack charged. The EV drivetrain itself is the same as any other pure battery EV drivetrain.

What type of application is considered portable power?

Any use case where the energy source needs to be carried along with the equipment is often described as a portable power application. Examples include mobile power generators, delivery trucks, and everything in between, such as forklifts or even lawn care equipment.

Is Cryo technology competitive with other zero emission technologies?

Our 5 minute quick refueling capability is not only competitive, but in many cases allows our Cryo technology to be superior to the alternatives. Refueling with Liquid Air/Nitrogen provides the equivalent of charging in excess of 600kW. After quick refueling, the two other most important factors for portable power tend to be the specific energy being carried by the energy source and the amount of that energy converted into usable work.

Cryo based designs require a little more additional space but have a lower overall mass. Think of battery cells as lead bricks and Liquid Air “fuel” as water. Now, the water will occupy more physical space than the lead bricks for the same amount of energy capacity. However, the water will have a lower overall mass (less weight). Also, as the Liquid Air “fuel” is converted into mechanic output, the mass continues to be reduced resulting in higher efficiency due to carrying less mass (weight). Unfortunately for the lead bricks (batteries), regardless of the amount of energy being carried, the same high mass (weight) is always present.

Any more differences between our Cryo Technology and batteries?

As mentioned above, the “fuel” is in a liquid state and liquids are easy to transport and store, even very colds ones like Liquid Air. By using our Zero Emission Range Extender, refueling times of just a few minutes are possible, where as the battery cells will require anywhere from 20 minutes to several hours depending on the charging rate and state of the batteries.

Since Liquid Air/Nitrogen based technology is an infinitely scalable method of storing energy, we have the ability to provide Just In Time energy delivery from a vehicle to vehicle network. Examples include: portable quick charging for pure battery EVs, emergency on demand hydrogen for fuel cells, and of course, automatic 5 minute quick refueling for Cryo powered transportation vehicles and other equipment.
